Silver...

Well... My beloved went to Mexico to celebrate her mother's b-day and she had the opportunity to expend a little time with her family too. At some point, she found some silver jewelery and she though that could be a good idea to get some to sale it here... and she did it! So we have now some nice pieces for sale... I was watching my soap opera when I saw a TV Commercial that literally said... "get rid of your old and rusty gold and get some fresh money". Since when the gold becomes old and rusty? So, if you have a "old" gold ring... is less valuable because is old? I don't think so... Anyway... My wife only got silver and I'm sure it will get dirty, but you just clean it and will shine again!

One small step for man

On July 20, 1969 My father came to the house and turned on the TV... Man landed in the Moon! He said. And we seat and watched a historical moment. The first words... "One small step for man, a great leap for humanity"... Why am I writing this today? Because I'm feeling that way... every small step I make is like a big leap for MY humanity... Today is a great day to thank God for all our body, all the functions in it, and how complex and perfect is it working. Is designed to last for a hundred years or more... but... once we are in charge of our bodies, we don't take good care of it and as a result, our body starts deteriorating earlier. The gout I'm having is a consequence of previous years of bad stewardship of my body, as well as my cholesterol, the excessive weight and for sure I'm not going to last a hundred years... and I'll do a little every day to improve my health based on my choices; What I eat, What I exercise, What I rest... choices, choices, ch...

Ouch!....

When sickness reach us is too late to prevent, so we have to correct. Last night I had a "Acute Gout" episode or as the specialist called, "hyperuricemia". The gout is something that causes little crystals to form on one joint or soft tissue. What this means? Well is like to have hundreds of little microscopical nails on one part of the feet, and believe me... is just like that. Even that I cannot bear the weight of bedclothes over the toe... all I can said is this... OUCH... Since I know that I have to keep certain food out of my diet, to drink Crawnberry Juice, and drink more water, I neglected that for the last few weeks... of course first think I did when I felt the pain it was to get some juice... to late baby!... What I was experiencing it was the beginning of the episode and now all I have to do is to wait until it finishes... what a reminder. When you neglect yourself with the little every day details... man... you are in trouble. While I was on the bed I w...

From paper to 30,000 acre project

There was a man, a dreamer, like many of us, who got a great idea: To have a animated talking mouse. His name: Walt Disney. He was capable to transform a 2-D sketch into a 30,000 acre property. What he was? A Leader. John Maxwell gave the best definition of a Leader. Some one capable to influence others and Disney was able to make other to believe that an animated mouse could be a great business. I really believe that there is many people with great ideas all over the world, in fact, many conversation in starbucks, in the mall, in the park or at any meeting are talking about "Great Ideas". One of the most precious gifts God Give us is our brain, that besides to controll our body functions, allow us to generate "IDEAS". So what is the difference between a piece of paper with a mouse drawn and 30,000 acre project? Actions. How many good ideas do you have in your mind? Get one, only one and make it happen. If not, is only a conversation theme for a cofee shop.

To be, or not to be.... remarkable!

Here I am, I’m being away from blogin on the last couple of weeks, and I can tell that I’m being really busy, and write a long list of justifications of not writing, but the fact is that I haven’t write, and that is lack of commitment with myself, so starting today, I’ll try to go back to my original commitment where I stated that I’ll be writing something EVERY day, so here is today’s post: Yesterday I went to Muvico cinemas with Sol and Sarai and we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks, and every time we go to that Movie cinema, my daughters are exited. Also last night my two teen went also to that movie theater to watch a movie and to chill out… My daughters enjoy a place that is more expensive than Weston8 cinemas, that is another theater that is close to our neighborhood and Muvico is always packed. I enjoyed the movie from the characters created in 1957 and brought to live by the wonderful Computer animation graphics and the technology that allows to make any character to look real o...

Numbers, Interest, Thinking and more...

In 2005, I bought a brand new Grand Caravan for Dora. At that time, our old Van, was ready for the junk and I owed more than 10 grand for that, because when I bought the Pontiac, I got a high interest rate (23%). So, they took my Pontiac, paid off my balance and I got a new Grand Caravan with a more decent interest rate: 14.8%. Anyway it was a high interest. Now in 2008 (Two and a half years later), my Grand Caravan was with 45,000 miles, and I had a debit for other five years, paying the balance of my loan at almost 15% I.R. Making me pay almost 13,000 on interest over my original debit. Well, after we check our credit score, now we qualified for a lower interest rate, so if we traded our van now, at the end we will end paying only 7800 dollars on interest and few extra dollars a month, so my happy wife drove today her brand new Grand Caravan, with rotary chairs, table, automatic doors for one more year commitment that my previous financial arrangement. How important is to know about ...

Happy Birthday Jeff!

A little bit of history, part IX

What happened between fourth and fifth grade impacted my life… there are some memories… My first job My father bought a shoe box with all the stuff required to have shiny shoes at home, so I asked why he did that, so he explained me that if we pay, we needed to expend 2 pesos on each pair, but with the supplies he bought the cost will be minimum, so it could be a great saving… when he mentioned the amount some one paid, I ask myself, why not to use the box… to get some money… and that’s exactly what I did. To have an idea of how much a peso worth, the exchange rate was 8.25 pesos per dollar, so a peso was about 12 cents. I took the box to the street and started offering the service for 1.50 pesos… to get customers faster than regular shoe cleaners… on my first day I made more than 20 pesos, because my satisfied customers paid me 1.50 plus a tip… on some pairs I earned more than 2 pesos. I was happy, so I went to the store, I bought one Red Mundet soda ( 45 cents) and animal cookies (5 ...

A way to start 2008

The way you start your new year reflects what to expect for your whole year, so with my beloved one, we took a look on my teens bedroom and all can I said, it needed urgent intervention, in fact I had a picture I took one day they were on a run and left the room completely messed up and we decided to do something to encourage them to experience one of our ethos about environment. So we went to Ikea to get a Swedish meatballs breakfast to have some inspiration and while we walked on the store, we decided to do an X-treme make over for my daughters. They were at a friend's house, recovering from the new year celebration so the timing was perfect to do it. I remembered Tania once told us she wanted some kind of black and red colors and we start looking, thinking, choosing, and to make a long story short, we expended all day choosing even the small details. We also found that my car is able to carry on more than I though... after we finished I went to pick up Paulina and Tania. Everyth...
