Personal Effectiveness

Today, Pastor Raul Palacios was leading a Book Study that is being broadcasted every tuesday at 7 a.m. on the Internet based on the book "Launching a Leadership Revolution". I really believe this is one of the best books I ever read about leadership. It combines text from many leadership authors. The authors, Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward created a great meltdown that allow you to understand on an easy readible book how to develop the leader in you. Raul made a great job sharing today chapters four and five, and we got great audience in room and on the internet. The study is being transmitted trough our Internet Campus as well as at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/flamingo-road-church-live/ . If you haven't read this book I recommend it, it is a you-cannot-miss book!

Here is a quote from the chapter: “Before you try to fix the world, clean up your own bedroom.” Rich DeVos

There is three areas you have to focus in to grow:

Character, Task and Relationships

If you lack of character, you will not succeed in a meaningfull way. If you cannot get the things done, you'll miss several opporunities. If you don't know how to create relationships you cannot experience success

So... want to read more? GET THE BOOK!!!! :)

Truth or dare?

One of the things that is surprising to me today, is the low value that many people assign to their own promises. Teenagers don't believe their parents, because they never fulfill their promises; Couples say "I'll stand by you forever" and few months later they walk on the opposite direction; politicians make promises to earn votes, and once the election is done, they forgot about it. I remember one of the first things I learned from my grandmother it was the value of my word. "A gentleman always fulfill his promises, a man with no word has no honor" and I learned to live by that principle. Few weeks ago, I was having a discussion with one of the leaders on the youth ministry at Flamingo Road Church about some technical difficulties we were experiencing during the broadcasting of our Student Service online, and I challenged him to fix the failures, so if he would complete the task with no errors, I will do my hair like him... (He had a Mohawk haircut with ...

One of my happiest days

My son's Grad picture! I present you to the Lic. Jose Alejandro de la Mora

What a way to celebrate a B-day!

I'm celebrating my 48 th Birthday with a new house for my family, it has been a loooooooong process but finally, last Wednesday we sign our first house in US, and we start the process of moving in and adapting the house to our likeness , our colors, ideas and more... It has been fun painting, demolishing some walls, choosing colors, selecting some new furniture, discussing some changes... but the most important thing, is that we are doing all as a family, and is helping us to share leadership, tasks, duties, games, and fun... God has been really good with us. Tomorrow we will celebrate my b-day at home, between dust, paint, tools, love and fun.
